Before getting into the review, let me apologize for how late this is. I’m still reeling from the episode’s events (more on that in a minute), but better late than never, I suppose!

Favorite Rachel Performance: Don’t Cry For Me Argentina

While trying to give Kurt solo audition ideas for the Warblers, she performs this classic number from the musical Evita. Once again, Rachel’s love of Broadway shines through, as does her voice. I love when Lea Michele sings no matter what, but she’s definitely her strongest when they are Broadway selections. I loved the juxtaposition with Kurt’s audition a la Defying Gravity and her standing on the balcony performing was pure perfection.

Favorite Rachel moment: Kurtchel? Rurt? Whatever you call it, it’s absolutely amazing!

Although Rachel had many fabulous moments this episode, her friendship with Kurt and talk before Sectionals was a definite highlight for me. I’m glad the writers have created this Kurtchel friendship (I think I like that name best) and I hope it continues to flourish throughout the series. With this week’s events, it looks as though both Kurt and Rachel could use some support.

Favorite Rachel outfit: The DCFMA Dress

However simple it may be, the purple dress Rachel wears while performing Don’t Cry For Me Argentina was absolutely beautiful. I truly loved the dress. Here’s hoping someone IDs it soon!

Favorite Rachel quote: ‘You said you’d never break up with me.’

In probably the most heartbreaking scene in Glee history, Rachel reveals that she attempted to sleep with Puck, in order to get back at Finn for sleeping with Santana. Incensed by her betrayal and her cheating, Finn breaks up with Rachel. As he’s walking away, Rachel reminds him that he said he’d never break up with her back in the season 2 premiere. I’m not sure what it was about this particular line, but I was so impressed with the acting of both Lea and Cory here and this line stuck with me. You could sense Rachel’s pain on her face and in the tone of her voice. It was truly difficult for me to watch.

There you have it, my thoughts on Special Education. What did you think of the episode? Do you think Finchel will reunite? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
